Healthcare buying into an RFID Vision

ODIN recently surveyed all the major medical device manufacturers about their level of engagement and knowledge around RFID. We had a great response to the survey and came up with some interesting results.
For starters here is some of the important data:
- 44.4% respondents have done some research into RFID while 27.8% have a production system in place already
- 72.2% anticipate adopting a standard such as ISO 18000-6c
- Over half of the respondents said accurate read data was their number one concern
And the best response from all of those surveyed; when asked "When do you expect to start your next RFID project?" 61.1% said in the next six months.

This clearly shows that RFID is top of mind in healthcare. The value of inventory control and visibility has been well proven with many Fortune 100 companies. With ISO 18000-6C emerging as the de facto standard it is clear that 2011 will be a big year for medical device manufacturers, health care companies, hospitals, labs, and others to adopt RFID. Remember the big key for success is the physics and 99%+ accuracy.
