Building The Perfect RFID Solution: A How-To From The Experts

RFID has driven more value and return on investment in the past six months than in the previous four years combined. People have realized that return on investment (ROI) drives success and that ROI is driven by the ability to change business processes. Technology investment is paying off with great performance, international standards have stabilized, and people have had a couple of years to get their arms around the concept of RFID.
The challenge is that the business processes are different for every company. A solid analysis must be undertaken to choose the right components for success. Those components must be chosen correctly and thoughtfully based on a number of factors.
Over the past seven years ODIN has completed over 250 successful RFID projects. The blueprint that we've refined since 2002 is what we call the 5Ps. It can best be shown with our trademarked process:

The five guiding principles of successful RFID start with planning and process analysis and need to measurably show how the system will change your business process. Then the next critical principle is that of physics. Defining the scientific attributes of your environment, the RF signature of the items to be tagged and potential ambient electronic noise are all critical to getting 100% read rates. The rest is trying it out in the real-world (pilot) and then scaling up (production).
Following the 5Ps processes if you are embarking on an RFID system will give you the platform for success you need to go it alone. If you don't have the expertise in house to understand the business processes, physics, or support give us a call at ODIN and in the words of Jester "We'll be your wingman anytime."
